KT Slides are designed to provide unmatched workflow compatibility to support reliable results throughout your histology workflow. With dependable tissue adhesion and minimal background staining for a pristine slide, these are an excellent choice for routine H&E, special stains, IHC, and ISH and are excellent for digital pathology workflows.
Not all microscope slides are created equal. KT Slides are manufactured with premium raw materials, and a rigorous two-step quality control system. Special attention is given to ensure slides are free from debris, have uniform dimensions, and are evenly coated.
KT Slides are validated for use for routine histology, including H&E and special stains, as well as IHC and ISH. Before switching, evaluate the appropriate KT slide (KT1, KT3+, or KT5+) with your existing protocols to optimize performance and determine which KT works best for your lab’s requirements.
KT slides have been evaluated on most IHC instruments and special stainers, including Roche, Leica, and Dako, as well as many commercial coverslippers. Before making a complete switch, validate KT Slides on all automated instruments and to confirm combability. KT® Koverglass is also validated on many commercial glass coverslippers.
KT slides can be introduced into your workflow with minimal disruption. We recommend evaluating the slides using your current microtomy, staining, and coverslipping procedures before transitioning to routine use. Follow your lab’s established validation procedures when making a change.
Tissue adhesion is especially important when working with challenging specimens or protocols. KT5+ slides are available with advanced adhesion for the most difficult tissue types, especially for ISH. KT3+ slides are available with standard adhesion that are excellent for special stains, frozen, and most IHC stains.
KT slides are designed to be compatible with PiSmart printers and are part of the PiSmart promise. They are compatible with all thermal transfer printers and UV laser printers. For customers that have inkjet printers, we recommend using the KT-i family – also available in KT1-I, KT3+-I and KT5+-i.
Yes, KT slides are made from premium German glass that enables superior clarity for digital pathology and imaging systems. Selecting slides that are free from debris and support clean backgrounds, and with consistent preparation can help your lab work towards more reliable whole-slide imaging results.
KT1: Non-adhesion slides that are excellent for H&E, special stains, and frozen sections.
KT3+: Premium standard adhesion slides that are excellent for H&E, special stains, frozen sections, and IHC procedures. Pro tip: many gastro and urology labs prefer the KT3+ for slides with leveled sections
KT5+: Premium advanced adhesion that are excellent for H&E, special stains, frozen sections, and even the toughest IHC and ISH procedures with difficult tissues. Pro tip: preferred for fattier tissues like breast and skin
KT-i slides offer another option within the KT slide portfolio. The offer the same great benefits but validated for use with Inkjet printers. They are also great UV laser printers.
Start with your lab’s applications and workflow. Consider the types of tissues you process, your staining protocols, tissue adhesion requirements, printing system, and if you perform digital pathology. From there, you can narrow down your options based on performance needs.
Absolutely! Evaluating KT slides in your lab is a practical way to assess how they perform with your tissues, protocols, instruments, and workflow. Compare results using your established acceptance criteria and follow your lab’s procedures for evaluating and approving changes. Contact your StatLab rep to request samples.
